Have dined here twice. The first time I got a wicked case of food poisoning. My entree was a nightly special that included salmon and beets and came highly recommended by our server. It was delicious but a deeply regrettable choice when I went down for the count. The second time was good-but forgettable. I think I had steak frites but who knows. It was fine.
Updated review-we have been back without our kids for dinner a few times and I am happy to say that we have had great service and our food and drinks were excellent.
I stand by my annoyance with the brunch nonsense.
We have been long time Northstar lovers and have dined at all the locations around town but have frequented the Easton location the most. Usually we feel like the price is totally worth the quality but today we visited the new Westerville location and were not impressed. At 1:30 p.m. on a Saturday they were still only serving from the brunch menu which...ehhh not a fan. Nowhere on the website or online menus does it specify the menu hours for brunch and at 1:30 on a Saturday I would expect a lunch menu at the very least. I got a salad I didn't want (chopped) because the uptown salad wasn't available (townsfair at Easton). The portion was smaller than the portions at the Easton location and the bread portion was smaller as well. It was way overdressed and left me clearing my throat for hours after our meal. My ginger ale had wayyyy too much syrup and was sickeningly sweet (my hands down favorite beverage at the Easton location). It was way off and also had a black mint leaf which was unappetizing at best. My kids each got a cheese quesadilla because there was no chicken available (again with the brunch nonsense), it was literally a tortilla with cheese...not even a couple apple slices thrown on the plate. For six bucks. My husband got his long time favorite fish sandwich and was happy with it (but would have preferred the fries that come with it-outside of brunch hours apparently). My kids each got an OJ and my husband got a smoothie. We felt disappointed and ripped off-the first time I can ever recall feeling that way about a meal at Northstar. With as long as it took them to build and open this store I would have expected the kinks to have been worked out. We had hoped to make it our regular post swim class lunch stop but a $70 lunch is cost prohibitive especially since the kids were still hungry afterwards. The building is lovely both inside and out though the traffic flow was poorly thought out-we experienced several near collisions with waitstaff exiting the line due to the layout on our way to and from the restroom.
Ehhhh, I don't know if I jinxed it or what but this place is going downhill fast. Our favorite server Derek and his wife are only here one day a week now and the service is just not the same. The last few times we have been in, the place does not look clean and our booth was a mess. I hope it was just a rough patch!!
Our #1 dinner spot in town-we absolutely love Royal Ginger. There is never a wait and the food is excellent. Service is fast, friendly and very attentive. Our current faves is the Royal Ginger roll.
Took my kids in for a special treat and waited forever. It was fun for the kids and the donuts were ok but nothing that would make me go back and endure that tiny packed space.
We spent a very enjoyable evening here with friends a few weeks ago. I had the strawberry fields cocktail which was wonderful. I ordered chicken Marsala and it was delicious. My husband got the walleye and he enjoyed it but said it needed something. Our friends got shrimp and grits and mac and cheese. The shrimp and grits were average and the portion was quite small, my friend loved the mac and cheese. All in all a good experience thought we did go to Koble' for drinks afterwards and the guys had 2nd dinner because they were both still hungry.
