Q:
Can the lights turn on in the tank?
A:
No but you can leave the door to the tank open enough to let light in from the shower area. It is recommended that you close the door completely but not mandatory to my knowledge.

The best way to end your week. I love this place for the following reasons:
It's like a spa, clean, relaxing, not scary or claustraphobic. I've been in a couple of types of pods / tanks and this style of tank where you can stand up if you choose and you can easily open the door unassisted is by far my favorite. The tanks are clean, stainless steel and they don't smell, all of this is appreciated. You can even step in and out of the tank as you choose because the tank is situated within your own private little spa shower room.
The people are very friendly. I've had to reschedule, cancel, ask for special temperatures, all sorts of annoying things folks often bristle about. 100% cool about it every time. I even learned about some very specific / high quality breathing for sports exercises from one of the front desk managers.
Being in the tank is the best shortcut to a meditative experience. Let's face it you're not gonna meditate for 60-90min, but once you commit to floating in the relaxing tank you've essentially worked 60min+ of meditation into your week. Also since you can move around a bit and drift into and out of sleep it doesn't feel torturous as medication can feel in the early days.
It's a massage and a chiropractor in one. I broke my back years ago and regularly get massages, use inversion tables, all manner of expensive and time-consuming interventions. I don't need to do this when I use the tank. I haven't used the tank frequently enough to eliminate all other interventions but I think it may be possible. The 2nd time I floated my back did the most powerful crack / re-adjustment totally naturally and without force. I still remember that shift because it was the biggest shift I've ever had and I've spent thousands trying to achieve that release.
Just try it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jirawat B.Menifee, United States141013 Jan 2024

I have been going to this place since 2018. It's a great place to have some alone time, shut off and just meditate. I prefer the location in Little Italy which always has parking and the showers are bigger. Out of all the places like this in San Diego, Flot is by far the best. It is clean, the space is larger than many pods you will find on a Groupon.
If you are claustrophobic, then try Flot if this is your first time. Just Float and you will find yourself moving and won't touch a wall.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 5417839011 Sept 2023
Very clean, quiet and affordable. This was my first time trying a float spa. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. They were also understanding of the fact that small pitch black enclosed spaces (with steel chamber doors) may be uncomfortable for some people, so they were patient lol.
I recommend making sure your ear plugs are completely in. If you get the mineral rich water in your ears it's pretty uncomfortable for a couple days.
Afterwards I felt great. Extremely relaxed, and low key felt like I was still floating. Plan to nap or veg out afterwards if you can!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Leonard S.San Diego, United States197543730 Sept 2023

So I received a generous gift for a 90 minute Flot session not even knowing what it was?
I read about the benefits- helps with sleep, muscle aches, creativity, depression etc so I was in!
5 stars for the facility and the person working. She was very informative and the place is very clean! You automatically are relaxed walking in as it is very dark, quiet and smells like a spa. Parking is not an issue, there is a nearby parking garage.
As she started telling me about the Flot I felt my anxiety creep in lol- floating in a pitch dark room in silence for 90 minutes?! I'm not one to sit still for 5 minutes. I automatically felt uncomfortable. She reassured you can prop the door open with a towel if you're a chicken like me!
Let me tell you, your brain will think of the weirdest shit while you are alone in the dark, but after a while you will feel relaxed and try to calm your mind.
The solution you soak in has oils so it will sting if you have sensitive skin or any cuts. They advise not to shave the day before to avoid burning. Also, If you move or get out of the tank during the session, be sure to keep your ear plugs secure or you can get water stuck in your ears (like me) for weeks.
I was glad I was able to experience the Flot, however, to reap the benefits I believe you need to go all the time! I can see it being very relaxing if you can shut everything down, going frequently may help you practice that. I say try it and see if it peaks your interest! If I go again 30 minutes would be sufficient.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Carrie W.Mission Hills, San Diego, United States401119 Jan 2024

Interested in seeing the pentair filter cartridge specifications? Those are pool grade filters and at best remove up to 20microns. How is it possible you're claiming .5 micron?

I absolutely love floating and was able to get a deal through Groupon! If you call they honor the Groupon price and you don't have to purchase the Groupon which I thought was great. I floated for 1hr and my husband for an 1 hr and a 1/2.
The place is a little hard to find it's in an awkward building and lower than ground level. Go a little early and make sure you find the spa. At other float spas we are usually let in 10 min early to shower figure out the float and get our full hour.
The employee working was super nice and helpful but she let us in exactly at our appointment time. Which cut into the float time because you also only have 5 min to shower after. Other places give you at least 15 min. Parking in downtown is difficult. Luckily there is a parking garage right next to the location for fairly cheap.
The float itself it was good I think I don't like that kind of tank. I prefer the egg one it got very dark and I kept running into the piping. They also make you take off your shoes before entering the tank area. After my shower I almost slipped and fell twice the floor has no grip.
Typically every float spa I've been too has music at the start to tell you your time has started and at the end when your time is up. At this location you get a knock that you can barely hear. All in all this was a good experience specially for the price. If you can do the north park location. I enjoyed that float a lot more.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Carlos B.San Francisco, United States0416 May 2023
Better than a massage?
I have been going to thai massage places and Korean spas. And float Spa is the only thing that removes my stress completely. If it was closer to where I live I will go at least three times a week.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 16 Sept 2022
Fact. Experts are sounding the alarms... Our planet will not be suitable for human life by the year 2026.
Big fact- you can do something to prepare for your spaceX journey to a new home.
I have begun training for suspended animation by entombing myself in a FLOT tub within a vault right here in NorthPark. It's like having your own personal Dead Sea without the need for a passport. No joke! You rent a room which contains a sarcophagus which contains a tub filled with very salt water where you can train for interplanetary travel!
The blinding darkness is a bit disorienting... I felt as if gravity did not exist, as if I were adrift and weightless floating thru space. I panicked for a moment feeling nauseous and whatever the opposite of claustrophobia is. I centered myself by concentrating on my breathing. This experience made me realize that I am doomed to remain on this blue marble.. 1 hour was plenty for me... I do not think I could do the 9+ year journey to the moons of Saturn.
I think buffalo wings would cheer me up... maybe next FLOT I'll bring some.Helpful 11Thanks 2Love this 17Oh no 0
