So many great deals with the sales for the pre Black Friday extravaganza! I had no clue about this until I walked into the store. Lots of things are 60 and 70% off but the majority are 25% off. Now everything's overpriced so everything is already marked up about 30%, so with the 60 and 70% off it was a steal!
Ended up buying a few Christmas ornaments, would have been about $200 but got it for $60! Cha-ching $ !
Really enjoyed walking around a childhood memory of Toys R Us. Now it's not the same as the brick and mortar locations from many years ago. But it was nice to see the logo and the giraffe !
Everything was well organized and kept In each department on every floor.
The outside store window decorations are a bit blah. They're not what they used to be when it was Marshall Fields. Still enjoyed seeing them, sadly just not the same -(Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dennis C.Chicago, United States1501484 Apr 2024
One of the worst experiences in buying online or in store. On November 25, 2023 I placed an order and a delivery date was confirmed. The day before delivery I was informed the mattress was not in-stock but needed to be shipped from the manufacturer to the warehouse and then a date could be determined.
Once the delivery date was arranged for a second time I was given a window of time for delivery within 3 hours. Approximately 25 minutes before arrival the driver called me to let me know I was next inline and he would call as he was approaching. At approximately 1:25 PM the phone rang and when I answered they hung up. The next call I received about 1 minute later was from a women calling me from your suburban warehouse asking me about the delivery. It was a very strange call that lasted about 5 minutes and escalated to her telling me the delivery was waiting for me at the front entrance and if I didn't let them in the delivery would be canceled and I would need to steppe another date, time and another fee would be charged. I quickly came to the building entrance (not the service elevator entrance) and the driver instantly started yell at me that I was making them late. The mattress was paraded through the lobby and into the passenger elevator all the while the driver continued to berate me for making he fall behind. The mattress was brought into my apartment thrown again a wall without inspection and the two delivering the mattress immediately exited without as much as a thank you or a hint of making sure the merchandise was as ordered and in proper condition. I would also like to point out that neither delivery person place anything to cover their feet to protect my floors or carpet.
As a reminder, you charge $75.00 for delivery, you hold your customers hostage for up to 4 hours and then allow 15 minutes................
The next available day to call customer service was Monday and I did place the call. I first spoke to a representative that I couldn't really fully understand and who was not understanding the problems I had incurred. I ask to be transferred and was sent to "Darlene", I explained the concerns and when they were repeated back all that Darlene could come up with was, so you are upset with the delivery people not setting up your mattress, clearly missing everything in-between. This ended in a disconnect on Darlenes behalf, she hung up on me.
So now I would like to move on the mattress, within 3 days thee mattress had a indentation the size of a yoga ball. I immediately called customer service and was given an inspection date 30 days out. One can only image the size of the creator got much bigger. Upon inspection You ( Macys) determined I was responsible entirely without exception, this included the tear on the fabric on the underside of the mattress. Something that would have been discovered if the delivery people had prolly inspected the merchandise with my including the possibility of the creator now effecting the center of the mattress and my rest for 34 days. While there was final resolution on what was credited back the serve ice from beginning to end was and remains deplorable at best.
This experience cost me all in about 10 hours from order to through the complaint and return process, unacceptable.
I feel strongly that buying anything major online or inshore will most likely never happen again.
I hope that this complaint meets you with a hard slap in the face, or perhaps Macy's really doesn't care about the customer.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 16 Feb 2024
We stopped in this Macy's while we were in Chicago visiting during the holiday season. It was a nice Macy's had a lot of good decorations and decor. The atmosphere was very very nice service. We didn't get waited on or spoken to so I can't really talk about that value. It was a little more expensive I guess in downtown Chicago

Incredibly rude staff in women's shoes. Didn't speak a word to them and they felt the need to make rude comments towards us. Don't bother.

I rarely go to Macy's anymore, but I thought I'd stop in to get some Clinique toner yesterday morning. Krystal at the Clinique counter was incredibly rude.

The downtown store is quite a sensory overload to me. One of the largest cosmetics areas I've seen with lots of displays. Somehow I missed where the Barbie movie promo displays were ! I did see in the shoe dept. all the Barbie shoe displays though. I can't remember how many floors this store was, but it took over an hour to look through this Macy's.
I'll be adding more Macy's pics as I find time...Helpful 5Thanks 2Love this 5Oh no 0 - 59448132730 Jul 2023
This is not only the biggest Macys I've ever seen but probably the biggest store I've ever been in. There are 7 floors and a lower level. It used to be Marshall Field's and they tried to keep a lot of that charm in the staircases, elevators, and there's even the original water fountains.
We looked at women's clothes first on the 4th floor and it was pretty much what you'd expect from a department store. Then we went down to the lower level because I love Macy's Backstage and what?? There was a wine bar, a bookstore, a candy store, and a Starbucks. Every corner was a surprise. My home Macy's does not have anything like that so I guess they better get on it. There's also another Starbucks on the street level entrance.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 1816450631 Dec 2022
I was out shopping for a late Christmas gift and had the pleasure to work with Rose. She helped me find the perfect orange Ralph Lauren hoody and even assisted me with finding a box for the gift. She made sure she was patient and even gave positive feedback when I asked for help. The store was reasonably busy for the after holiday rush, I was very happy to be able to get the assistance I needed while shopping.
Thank you Rose and thank you Macy'sHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 2 Jun 2023
This Macy's is giant, so if you have time to search, it is likely you can find what you are looking for, as they carry everything from clothing to home goods.
The building itself is historic and beautiful, so it's worth stopping in just to take a closer view. On the bottom floor of the building, in the Pedway, there's a beautiful display of historic stained glass windows that is worth a look! However, because it is a historic building, the layout is sprawling and it is difficult to figure out where to find what you are looking for.
There are often decent sales happening, but the racks of clothing get so chaotic that I find it stressful. I found the perfect dress for an event, but needed another size. It is really hard to find employees, so I ended up having to wait in the check out line for almost 30 minutes since only a handful of registers are open. When I finally got to the front, I was told they couldn't order another size online, but that there was "maybe" one dress in the size I needed somewhere in the store. I asked if someone could help me locate it, but the best she could do was tell me 3 different general areas it could possibly be. After searching those areas for a little over an hour, I gave up.
If you have time to kill and want to browse, Macy's is a great option, but if you need something specific or want a little more assistance from an employee, I would recommend skipping Macy's and heading to one of Chicago's smaller boutiques where they have more organized inventory and can provide better assistance.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1562885245 May 2023
This is a beautiful classic looking Macys in the heart of downtown Chicago. Lots of floors with everything and anything that you could be looking for.
One downside is that there is no dedicated parking structure/lot for customers. If you want to drive to this location, you will need to pay a steep price to park. The subsidized parking in the nearby structure is very expensive (only $2-$3 off from the regular downtown Chicago rate). Alternatively you could try to find street parking, however those spots are few and hard to come by in this area during prime hours.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
