One of the largest Boots locations in the UK, it is located on Market Street, with entrances on street-level and on the upper floor of the Manchester Arndale. It is a large and modern store, and one of the largest in the Manchester Arndale.
It is over three floors, downstairs you have the main part of the store with beauty/cosmetics/pharmacy and a small selection of food, on the upper floor you have the baby section as well as the Opticians, the top floor is a Health Walk-In Centre and a dentist, so the facilities here are very good compared to other Boots stores.
Most of the staff in the store are helpful, including the Opticians, which is amongst the best in the city in terms of designer eyewear selection.
The food and drink section is also much larger than other Boots stores, I find their beverage section to be very good, while the food section to be very minimal, including a large fridge area, they also have a machine where you can refill your water bottle for free. I do find their drinks to be expensive compared to other stores, and a lack of gluten-free snacks is disappointing.
The store layout is pretty easy to follow, the store has a good feel to it.
The selection of most products is pretty good, I do find the prices in some areas can be a tad expensive though, but there are still some pretty good deals. They also stock the whole Bulldog range here, which is handy as it's my favourite men's toiletries brand on the market. (I don't use five in ones anymore, Kaylee!)

I've always really enjoyed going to Boots Opticians - they're a proper British institution and I always appreciate the excellent service they offer.
I've been coming here for 8 years and they're always on it - reminders to book when it's been a year, calls when lenses are ready (or sent out directly), short waiting times and the staff always up to date with your last check-up even though they may be new.
A very modern set-up, I'm on their vision plan which helps with the cost of everything they do (i.e free check-ups) - the only thing I find a bit frustrating is their selection of glasses for sale. The core range of unbranded frames all seem really lacking in style and inspiration - while the designer ones are all plastered with branding for fashion houses etc all over them. I really don't want logos and names all over my glasses or I may buy some from here - basically they need to work on their core range of inhouse frames!
Overall a great opticians experience with me buying my contacts here, I do usually buy my glasses online though where the selection is much better.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 04 Nov 2013Previous reviewSo here's a quick update and why I feel Boots are a great company.
After somehow scratching my eye on Thursday night (Halloween party, actually only had 2 beers...) I woke up on Friday to see it was something that would have fitted in quite well with our party!
Within 10 mins of calling up I was booked in for an afternoon emergency appointment where the optician gave me the going over, prescribed some antibiotic eye drops and then gave me a follow up appt after the weekend.
This was all free as part of being on their vision plan (doesn't cost anything more, it's just part of getting my contacts from there) and from the moment of coming in to the moment I was given the all clear all of the staff were super friendly.
I really feel Boots went the extra mile and did the best they possibly could have. I will always go with Boots for my eye care as opposed to going for the slightly cheaper all online options as it's nice to have the in person, friendly and professional care when dealing with something as important as eye care!31 Jul 2013Previous reviewBoots opticians is old English service at its best. They might be slightly more expensive than spec savers etc but the friendly staff and personal care more than makes it worthwhile.
Sign up to their vision plan to get free eye tests, contact lens checks and 50% off glasses. - Mairead S.Chandler, United States085 Jan 2020
The Benefit team was so sweet! Welcomed me with smiles and very helpful! Especially Jake, he really went out of his way to make sure that I was well taken care of! Not only did he help me with what I was looking for, he also taught me a bit about makeup as well as making conversation! It was such a lovely experience. Thank you Jake!!

Damn Boots. I wandered into their flagship Manchester store last week for a lipstick and left 15 minutes later armed with beautiful Biotherm products for my sweetheart!
A massive, two storey shop at the bottom of Market Streets, Boots is a one-stop shop for health, beauty and body products. As well as aisles and aisles of toiletries and skincare, they have in-house opticians, pharmacists and private consultation rooms. The reason I usually venture there however, is for the excellent beauty counters stocking everything from Clarins, Clinique and Lancome to Benefit, Origins and Ruby & Millie. There's also a brilliant Biotherm counter - where they're currently selling incredible gift sets featuring their best selling source therapie serum. Just don't tell too many people, eh?Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Emma Louise M.Bellevue, United States11431365157925 Jun 2010Updated review
There's a Waitrose in my Boots. There's a Waitrose in my Boots. There's a Waitrose in my Boots.
Sorry, I'm just excited... the last time I was in the vicinity of a Waitrose I was watching the Tottenham v. Chelsea match in London (I know, I'm so hip) and it felt very highbrow. Imagine my surprise when I walked into the store from its Cross Street entrance expecting to see deodorant, toothbrushes and tampons alongside the odd Boots meal deal and gossip magazine and was instead greeted by... figs? Ready meals? Flowers? RASPBERRIES?
You can't deny that Waitrose is high quality, right? It's a step up from Marks and Sainsbury's and makes this fact known with its inflated prices. But I happened to have a moment of serendipitous fabulousness, and it's my job to share it with you. Get there sometime before closing, perhaps around an hour or so. Suddenly, even if you're a penniless student, a budgeting writer (hello mirror) or between jobs, you'll find yourself being able to afford the tasty goods in here, as long as you use them fairly quickly. Why? Well, the stock here is so fresh, the use-by or display-until tends to be quite close, and if you see any sandwiches or produce with the same date on them as today, likely the man with the stickers will be marking them down considerably very shortly.
Let me give you some examples. I got a generous £2.99 punnet of raspberries for 64p, 6 organic free range ethically sound eggs for 24p, four deliciously ripe figs (to be enjoyed later with a sticky balsamic sauce and some cheese) for £1.99, a tub of ricotta cheese which I'd be making into a cheesecake for around 24p also and a delicious, large tub of summer fruits compote from Yeo Valley for 99p. I was set! I've been back since at the right times and I've always managed to bag a bargain or two.
So get yourself down there. I don't know whether Boots is affiliated with Waitrose or whether they just rented out the space at the back of the shop, but there's something thrilling about being able to pick up your evening meal alongside your toiletries. Not that you can't do that in the supermarket, but... well, ah... you know what I mean. Normally the toiletries aren't the central focus. Here, they are, but there's an absolute ton of groceries alongside them.
And Waitrose sandwiches, for pre-packaged sweaty conveniences, are pretty darn good. In fact I'd say they're on par with Marks. And they've won awards. So, what are you waiting for?!?Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 019 Dec 2009Previous reviewThe reason I'm reviewing this branch of Boots is not only because of its extremely large size and therefore varied stock. You can pick things up here that you'd never find in the smaller outlets, for example, and it has a photo processing service, a super pharmacy where I usually pick up prescriptions and brilliant gift sets and babywear as well as greeting cards and plenty of snacks. No, I came here with something of a health concern, something many women find themselves wondering from time to time, and when phoning my mother who wasn't too sure what to say on the situation, she told me to try my luck in Boots' private consultation room. The larger branches with their pharmacy services and substantial staff have rooms where you can quickly talk to someone in the know if you haven't the time to make a doctor's appointment. They will simply dispense advice.
Needless to say everything was fine, the woman I spoke to was understanding and completely calm. Obviously she'd seen this sort of thing a million times before and told me exactly what to do after making sure she knew all the details. And it all worked out swimmingly. If you find yourself in a slight emergency health scenario, I'd seriously consider popping in here before making an appointment at the doctor, they might be able to put your mind at ease.
Within an hour I was chomping on Krispy Kremes without a care in the world. A word of warning, though, around seasonal periods and office lunchtimes this branch of Boots despite its size becomes absolutely unbearable. Yep, I didn't expect such a vast space to be filled so easily. Then again I don't expect huge fields to be filled at festivals. You give the people what they want, and flock they will... - Steve W.Manchester, United Kingdom117416 Dec 2010
Absolutely gargantuan Boots store. That's the best way to describe this one.
As some other reviews mention is also contains a Waitrose, the first in central Manchester before the new one opened a little down the road. I'll often pop in for a meal deal whilst heading to work as the quality of food is excellent. But that's nothing compared to the choice of...well, pretty much everything else.
Basically I came out two weeks ago with a new shaver, shower gel, asprin, a sandwich, a packet of condoms (not the JLS ones of course, which they do stock, much to my hilarity), a mens fragrance (a huge choice again) and if I'd have wanted to, or needed to, kids clothing, a pair of specs and a bath set.
Lots of room to move around too.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jenna H.Saint Petersburg, United States820324 Jul 2012
All the other Yelpers are singing the praises of this Boots because it's apparently gigantic compared to other Boots which equals more selection. I get that. But that doesn't change the fact that you'll need to watch out for nagging high prices and (of all things) YOUR VERY SAFETY.
I went to this Boots looking to pick up a few things and while I was standing in an aisle looking at mouthwash, one of the staff (presumably a plain clothes security officer) ran past me at a full sprint trying to apprehend a thief. Had I stepped back even a millimeter from where I was he would have knocked me face first onto the floor and I probably would have had a few broken teeth - not good for a traveler with no insurance.
I'm sorry, but putting people's safety at risk because you're trying to protect merchandise is just ridiculous - I don't care what they stole. I'll avoid this Boots as much as I can for that reason.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jamie S.Manchester, United Kingdom12761430 Nov 2010
This boots is massive!!!!!!!! Its on market street so the location is great. It has in it the usual stuff you would expect from boots plus:
A waitrose - so great for some posh nosh
A NHS walk in health centre! - Its well hidden so you might have to ask where it is but its there and very helpful. Its also my local doctors who is quite cool.
It has access from all sorts of places and has pretty much everything in it and a large selection of it.
They do a really good meal deal at boots where for £2.99 you get any sandwich/salad/pasta dish, a side (crisps, chocolate, fruit etc) and any drink from a pretty good selection.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Chris T.Manchester, United Kingdom1168333263320 Nov 2015

This must be one of the biggest Boots in the UK and is spread over 2 floors. As you walk into the store, there are lots of concessions (e.g. Benefit, Clinique, Clarins etc). If you go to the back of the store and turn to the right, there is the food section were you can get the perfect meal deal. If you go upstairs onto the first floor, there is the opticians, baby section and the photo counter. This is also where they put out their seasonal range (Christmas stock is being put out at the time of writing - and lots of it!) I've always found this store to be very busy. Everytime I go in, the staff are always friendly.
